Strong buying activity expected at Yarn Expo 2005
High level of internationality on the exhibitor side supports show concept & timing

The second annual Yarn Expo opens Tuesday at the Beijing National Agricultural Exhibition Centre and will run until 31 March 2005. The show features exhibitors from 14 countries and regions, including Belgium, Canada, China, Hong Kong China, India, Indonesia, Korea, Pakistan, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Thailand, Turkey and the Ukraine. This high level of internationality on the exhibitor side supports the show concept and timing, and proves Yarn Expo is considered an effective platform for fibre and yarn manufacturers – both local and foreign – who want to increase sales and promote their products in China.

Experts forecast that China will come to dominate the USD400 billion global clothing market, with some predicting that the country will increase its market share to over 50% in the very near future. The nation’s textile sector already shows healthy signs of growth. In the first two months of 2005, China’s export of garments reached over USD9 billion, an increase of over 28% year-on-year. The growth is not only due a substantial increase in garment exports, but also to booming consumption of textiles in the domestic market. These rapid developments are expected to jumpstart a surge in garment and textiles manufacturing and consequently in the import volume of fibres and yarns.

Chinese exhibitors

87 Chinese exhibitors will participate at the show including suppliers from the nation’s key yarn and fibre producing regions; Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang.
Overseas exhibitors

India is the number one supplier and exporter of cotton to China and exports are on the increase. To familiarise Indian companies with the growing Chinese market, the Cotton Textile Export Promotion Council of India (Texprocil) will, for the second year, bring a group of Indian companies to China, to introduce the latest Indian cotton fibres and yarns.

The Gulistan Group of Companies is one of the largest textile groups in Pakistan and six of the group companies will participate at Yarn Expo 2005 showcasing the country’s latest products.
