Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles 2005 opened on 23 August,2005 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre featuring over 600 exhibitors from 16 countries including Austria, Belgium, China, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, the Netherlands, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Turkey, the UK and the USA. A full range of home textiles will be on show including products from some of the industry's market leaders such as Lenzing Fiber, EAT and Tessitura Pertile.

To keep trade buyers and manufacturers abreast of the latest developments in home textiles, an array of special features have been organised during the show.

Pakistan Pavilion returns for the fourth time

For the fourth time, Pakistani companies exhibited in a national pavilion at Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles. The pavilion will house 10 companies showcasing bed linen, beddings, terry products, table and kitchen linen as well as curtains and blinds.

'The designer's studio'

Recognising the wish from the booming Chinese home textiles industry for new inspiration, the organisers of Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles 2005 have created a zone dedicated to home textile designs: 'the designer's studio'. Located next to the overseas pavilion, the studio will house unique designs from China, Italy, The Netherlands and the UK.

China International Home Textiles Design Competition

Home textile professionals and design students from around the world were invited to submit designs showing their interpretation of the theme 'harmony'. Since its creation in 2003, the competition has become a recognised event in the industry. This year, a panel of 16 designers, industry experts and professors from leading Chinese and overseas design institutes have judged more than 2900 entries in three categories: product designs, innovative designs and thesis. The winning entries will be showcased at the competition display zone in Hall E1 and E2 throughout the fair.

China Home Textile Development Symposium

A high-level international symposium will be held in Shanghai on

23 August 2005 and brought together international home textiles professionals to discuss the latest development in home textiles' designs and trends. For convenience, the symposium was held at the same venue as the fair (Room W2 - M9). The speakers were international home textile experts including Mr. Fulvio Alvisi, President of the Italian Textile Designer Association, Ms. Karen Fisher, president of Designer Previews, the renown American design agency, Mr. Joseph Lembo, professor at Fashion Institute of Technology Institute in New York and Mr Suo Lai-jun, Deputy General at Copyright Protection Centre of China.

Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles 2005 was held from 23 – 25,2005, at Shanghai New International Expo Centre and is organised by Messe Frankfurt, The Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT and the China Home Textile Association (CHTA).
